The Nest - a therapeutic home for moms and babies

My name is Stacey and I’ve been

encouraged by friends to start this

fundraiser.

I was hesitant to share, but I thought dream BIG and ask BIG.

I am hoping to open a house.

Yes, I am going to need a house to

accomplish my dream. I want to open a

home that provides a therapeutic

environment of medical care to infants

suffering from Neonatal Abstinence

Syndrome (NAS) and recovery services

to their mother. I want to stop separating

mothers from their babies in the name of

recovery and rehab.

I look back and realize that I want to

devote my next 20 years doing upstream

prevention. This means supporting a

mother who finds herself struggling with

addiction, mental health, homelessness, etcwhile she is with her baby.

This means preserving that attachment of

infant and mother, instead of thinking

adoption is the cure for childhood trauma

or that babies are born resilient.

This means wading into the messy and I

need a building to make this happen. And I need people to dream BIG with me.

So in case anyone has a home to donate to a BIG dream…here’s a well-researched idea that I want to make happen.
