Stability for Bruce with his Dad
Hi! We are your neighborhood clowns: Olive and Dingo. You know us as the colorful humans on tall bikes who parade through the city, bringing balloons, joy, and laughter to parties, playgrounds, and pdx biz!
Our son, Bruce, is 16 and has taken a stand to live with his dad, Dingo. This fundraiser is for him. Unfortunately, it has become clear at this point (and was exacerbated during the pandemic) that Bruce does not have enough support with his other parent who currently has custody of him. He would like to change that. We would like for him have the mental, emotional and physical support that he craves and deserves as he finishes these last few years of school and on to adulthood. He has been alienated from his dad multiple times by his other parent and would like to feel safe and secure with his dad while he learns healthy boundaries for his adult life ahead.
Our goal has moved from $4000 to $8000. These things are hard to predict. We are glad to have raised money to get a lawyer but now have about 2500 that we still need to pay our lawyer in addition to that 4000. And now we have a court appointed family counselor that we must pay out of pocket for: anothr $1000 minimum. My goodness these things are wildly expensive. it's so exhausting to be a low income person and have your co-parent running out the clock as we watch our lawyer $ meter go up... Our son is the most important person to us! He just wants a sliver of JOY! Goodness.
We have to file a motion for custody modification, parenting time modification, child support modification, and we did end up getting our son a lawyer! (Thank you!)
We have already asked so much of our family. We are asking you all to help us get through this rough situation because it means so much to us to give our son the stability he needs right now, and honestly, has needed for a while.
We and our son have had many conversations with his other parent and Bruce has been amazing standing up for himself. But it is time for the whole situation to be agreed upon and finalized.
