St Thomas's Neilston church roof
Donation protected
The Neilston War Memorial Association is fundraising to support St Thomas Church in Neilston, Our Friends at St Thomas have supported the Neilston War Memorial Association for years, both by donations to help the memorial get built and participation in our November commemoration events yearly.
St Thomas's has launched a campaign to raise funds for a massive re-roofing project for the Church Building that houses a stained glass window listing 25 local lads who fell during WW1. (More St Thomas's lads also fell during ww2)
During the winter months, a large volume of water ingress occurred throughout St Thomas RC Church putting the church building and subsequently the ww1 memorial window at risk.
A survey of the building determined that it must be re-roofed as a matter of necessity.
The indicative figure for the re -roofing project is £200,000, with £100,000 to be raised via donations, grants, and fundraising initiatives locally.
The stained glass window memorial inside the church lists the 25 lads' names
