Hi, my name is Paddy and I’ am Climbing Mera Peak in the Himalaya's from the 6th till 21st October 2023.

St Marys Convent Residential Care Home played a very important role within my Grandma and Grandad's lives. They both used to visit the convent on a regular basis going to mass there and walking around the grounds, throughout their 62 years of marriage until the sad passing of my Grandad. After around 70 years of living in the home they had bought when they got married, bringing up their 5 children and sharing great times with the family, my Grandma needed a little bit more help with her day to day life, and there was only one place she would move to, St Mary's Convent. It was here she lived out the last 8 months of her life surrounded by the happy memories she shared there with my Grandad.

In memory of my Grandma & Grandad I want to raise funds to put towards upgrading the outdoor facilities with full access for all residents to enjoy the beautiful gardens like they did.

To do this I have decided to climb Mera Peak in the Himalaya's. Mera peak is the highest of the peaks in Nepal that are defined as 'trekking peaks' at a staggering 6476metres. This will be the most demanding thing I have ever done and will take a lot of training and courage due to the altitude being so high, therefore there is great danger in persuing this. that said I' am looking forward to this challenge and I hope you can all support me on this adventure.
