St georges store robbery Monday 20th feb
Hi, by now many people in colchester may have seen the footage of a robbery that took place on Monday 20th February, where two men decided to enter St Georges Stores, on canterbury road in New town.
They took the owner at knife point behind the counter, emptying his till of cash and stole a considerable amount of tobacco.
Jay (the owner) was the man in the shop that evening, and as anyone that's seen the footage could only imagine how this experience has left him shaken to say the least.
Being a local to the shop, I for one know that Jay and kumar work very hard to provide us with a lovely little local shop.
After speaking to Jay he explained they took £235 in cash and £600-700 pounds worth of tobacco. He may well have insurance to cover part of this, but as we know the innocent party always ends up paying (excess for claims and then the premiums after), another local lady suggest setting up a page for Jay where the local community, if in the position can donate a little bit to show their support and hopefully cover any costs that may occur from this horrific ordeal Jay had to suffer on Monday evening. Let's hope they are caught and pay the price very soon.
