Hi everyone, we’re Casey and Thomas Slaughter! We have been married since October 2, 2021 but have been together since June of 2015. Back in October of 2023 we decided we wanted to add to our family and began down the unknown and unforgiving road of conception. Unfortunately though, this has been much more difficult than we had anticipated.

Infertility has shown us the purest form of disappointment, and continues to do so each month. In February of this year we had a glimmer of hope after a positive pregnancy test, only for our overwhelming joy to be quickly ripped away from us after an early miscarriage. We are resilient though, and didn’t let this be an excuse to quit trying. We’ve continued on this journey month after month, but we would be lying if we said it wasn’t exhausting.

This month marks two years that we have been on this journey. We have decided that it’s time to explore our options, and have been in contact with the Tennessee Fertility Institute in Nashville. While we are early on in this process, we believe IUI is our best/least invasive option for us at this time. Unfortunately though, our insurance does not cover infertility treatments and everything we do moving forward will be paid 100% out of pocket. We aren’t the type of people who ask for handouts, but we are to the point of feeling defeated and are unsure of what to do.
