Singing Resistance Philly is building a mass movement of singers in Philadelphia to protect and care for our communities in the face of rising authoritarianism, deportations, and attacks on our neighbors. We are grounded in love, nonviolence, and solidarity. As ICE raids our neighborhoods and local institutions collaborate with systems that harm immigrant families, we sing because song is an antidote to fear. Song helps us stay connected to each other, and through song we can name and defend what we hold sacred. We sing in the streets of Philadelphia for solace, for strength, for solidarity, to speak the truth about what is happening in our city, and to refuse cooperation with ICE and all who enable its violence.

We welcome everyone into this movement for collective liberation. In Philadelphia, we are fighting for a future where all people — Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, trans, queer, disabled, poor — and the Earth itself are safe, protected, and free. Through song, we refuse what authoritarianism demands of us: to stay quiet, to feel powerless, to turn away from each other. Instead, we gather in public, we raise our voices together, and we tell the truth about both the violence and the resistance. Our singing is an act of protection, an act of courage, and an act of love. In every action, we strive to embody the world we are fighting for — beloved community, deep care, and people coming together to defend life in Philadelphia. ❤️
