On what should have been an ordinary day, our lives changed in an instant. The Spruill family experienced a devastating house fire that destroyed our home and left it completely uninhabitable. The damage is so severe that it may take up to a year before restoration is complete. Tragically, the neighboring home was also lost, a heartbreaking reminder of just how intense and destructive this fire truly was.

As we try to process everything, we are also grieving an unimaginable loss. The very next day, we laid our father to rest. In the midst of losing our home, we had to say goodbye to our dad who meant everything to us. Right now, we are facing the overwhelming reality of starting over from nothing—searching for temporary housing, replacing essential belongings, and managing the unexpected expenses that come with both a devastating fire and the loss of a loved one.

These funds will help cover temporary housing for our family during the next several months, clothing, food, and daily essentials, replacing furniture and household items lost in the fire, funeral-related expenses for our father, and insurance gaps and unexpected recovery costs.
