Sprouting Again Children home school fee fundraise

Hello, My name is Robert Dooher, I am from Colorado Springs and live part of the year in the greater Nairobi area of Kenya. During the Covid crisis I went for a walk in my Kenyan neighbourhood of Kitengela and found myself at the doors of Sprouting Again Children’s Home. Sprouting Again is an orphanage, refuge and final barrier between abject poverty and a chance for over 100 children in need of basic care and love to enjoy faint hope. Since that visit I have become the titular CEO and recently the sole supporter of a critical necessity in the lives of these least fortunate of children. The Covid crisis brought what little community assistance there was to an end, leaving the orphanage in desperate straits. On behalf of the children, we are looking to finance construction of a small primary school. Having our own school will be a substantial savings given the school-fee structure here in Kenya. While some local schools were able to take in a scattering of children prior to Covid, everything changed from the first day on. In this last year the school-fees amounted to 20,000 USD and will only be higher as we prepare for a new semester January 23rd. Obviously, building our own school will be financially and functionally an important step in helping us educate, feed, and clothe the children. (Of course, we welcome monies directed to food or medical help of which there is never enough.) If you or anyone you know would like to contribute towards our goal it would be tremendously appreciated and a great investment in the future of our children. Please pass this request near and far. We are not a registered charity although we are moving inexorably towards changing that. As such all donations fall outside of tax deductions for the time being but rest assured your help will be spent wisely and strictly in keeping with good governance. History of Sprouting Again Children’s Home In 2015, Orphanage founder Joshua Mutuku Muthengi, dismayed at the growing number of street kids in Kitengela, decided to act as a protective figure for three young boys who were begging for food near his flat. It did not take long for him to realise there were many local children living hand to mouth with nobody to assist and protect them from the many dangers lurking for youngsters in such need. Joshua who was working as a casual labourer washing clothes and washing carpets would buy food and take to the kids. One day as he was walking on the road he met a stranger who blessed him with the house that houses the kids. Nobody knew each other but God had a plan, that’s when Joshua went ahead and rescued the three boys. The house had no electricity, no water but they did manage. Joshua would wake up at 3AM cook for the kids and leave for his casual labour. Within seven years he has managed to find humble lodgings and organise a modest but caring home for over 120 vulnerable children. In that time several small organisations provided occasional help with food, clothing, and modest cash offerings but the last few years have been trying and difficult for Joshua and his small but dedicated care-giving staff. The money just isn’t there and there is zero government help from any level be it local, regional, or federal. Besides looking to build a school, we are actively seeking assistance from national and international agencies who specialise in helping the least fortunate such as our precious charges. Any help is wildly appreciated. Robert Dooher CEO,  Sprouting Again Children’s Home
