Spring Healing for Christina Brigner

I know we've all heard of spring cleaning, but this year we have a new focus, spring healing. My beautiful mama, Christi, has recently been diagnosed with anti Synthetase syndrome with Dermatomyositis, a rare and often devastating and incurable autoimmune disease. This has greatly affected her ability to walk and use her muscles as they have lost most of the tone she once had. This condition has affected almost every part of her. The smiling ball of energy she once was is weak and exhausted. Our family is scared, confused, and hurting. It's difficult to see such a bright shining star of a person with the kindest heart be in so much pain. But we are fighting! She is currently in phase one of treatment to try to calm her immune response using Methotrexate to prevent further damage and hopefully ease some of the pain (which also comes with serious side effects). They will continue to monitor her liver function and disease progression while they decide what the next steps are but it's going to be a long road. She is praying for remission but this could take years and many trials of different treatment plans. As many know, my loving mom is a nurse (and a damn good one too!) and is used to caring passionately for the sick and the vulnerable in their time of need, and now it's our turn to take care of her. My mom can no longer work the job she loves, and unfortunately this means our family has been struggling financially as she is the sole provider. All donations will go towards keeping our family home, so we can better help my mama through this awful time.
