"I am writing on behalf of Society for Family Preservation, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) registered as a charity in Scotland (SC 051768)." We are running a campaign this Christmas called ‘#SpreadASmileThisChristmas2022’ For this campaign we aim to spread some kindness and offer some financial relief to children and families that are experiencing financial hardship due to being involved in the care system.

Recently, The Department of Education released statistics evidencing the record number of children in care. As of the 31st March 2022, we currently had 80,850 children in the care system within the UK. The psychological, emotional, physical, and financial impacts of children being separated from their families is a daunting process for most families to process, as one they very rarely have a say or choice in. More often than not, key dates such as Christmas are often met with a lack of promise and disappointment. While most people enjoy the spirit of Christmas, there is a huge proportion of children and families that will experience separation this Christmas, and while they jump through hoops, to meet the time together that they are promised, they will be met with even more financial pressures.

We at Society for Family Preservation, would like to remind children and families that they are not forgotten, and that they too do matter. We aim to put hampers together this Christmas containing a gift for each member of the family, a food voucher, gift vouchers, electric and gas vouchers and any other donations of any kind, to help spread a kindness and a smile to them this christmas and to somewhat help to relieve them of some of their financial burdens, due to their circumstances.

Here at Society for Family Preservation we believe that everyone deserves a smile, but especially at Christmas time, in the season of good-will.
