Spreading Love, Hope, and Awareness
Donation protected

My daughter recently came to me and asked how she could get involved to help her community. This was not surprising to me, as she has always shown herself to be a caring and compassionate person. During previous community service outreach efforts, she identified a quote from Jackie Robinson which stated "A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives". At that time, she was collecting school supplies for homeless youth (see picture). That experience was the catalyst for her desire to continue her philanthropic endeavors.
While watching the recent civil unrest unfold, she stated "Mom I want to help people. I realize what is going on in the world and it isn't right." As a result, we talked about peaceful ways to increase awareness. I encouraged her to think outside of the box and she came up with the idea to create a sign that she could post throughout our neighborhood. Regarding her idea, she said "I hope my signs make other people pay attention, especially adults, because maybe it will encourage them to do the right thing." After posting the signs, she received tons of positive feedback and requests to post in other neighborhoods. This was very encouraging for her. She had no idea that her signs would make such an impact.
Several neighbors suggested she start a GoFundMe because they would like to assist her with the purchase of supplies. I shared the suggestion with her and explained that the funds could be used to as a platform to help her spread her love and awareness throughout even more communities. She would like to use the funds to purchase a laminator, laminating pouches, copy paper, and ink. She also expressed interest in creating yard signs.
Thank you in advance for all of your support. Whether you allowed her to post on your mailbox, contributed to funding her idea, or simply waved and gave her bright smile as she walked through the neighborhood...it is ALL appreciated!
