Let’s face it, the internet is running out of streaming content. There are no sports on TV, the best Netflix can do is produce “bonus” Tiger King commentary, and at this point if you haven't watched Succession you're never going to. To help you through this tough time, we will be finding out -- live on the internet -- whomst among our MBA team can eat the most tacos this Sunday, April 19 at 1:00 pm PST. As we sacrifice our hot bods in the name of cheap entertainment, we ask that you consider donating to this fundraiser which will support food-insecure persons in LA while at the same time helping to provide revenue to struggling local restaurants.
Food feeds us all, and the collective industry of greasy spoons, first-date spots, weeknight go-tos, and special-occasion splurges employs Americans by the millions. Today, these people are struggling. According to the National Restaurant Association, 7 million restaurant workers have been laid off to-date. What's more, low-income and at-risk groups face new challenges in the day-to-day effort to stay well-fed and healthy.
As a group of UCLA MBA students, we started Spork in early 2020 as a platform to put extra dollars in restaurants' pockets. With coronavirus sweeping the world, that need is more clear than ever. Today, Spork is feeding vulnerable, food-insecure communities by partnering with community-focused restaurants to help keep the lights on and their employees on payroll.
Join us in contributing your dollars to fund large delivery orders which we place through struggling mom and pop restaurants to serve medical workers, low-income communities, and other at-risk populations. Every $12 you donate provides a meal to someone in need, and every catering order we place justifies a shift for line cook. Help keep our communities vibrant, working, and fed.
