Hi, I’m Charlotte and I’m 17 years old. In July 2026, I will be part of a team from my school going on a once-in-a-lifetime expedition to Peru.

The trip I will be going on is a volunteer programme for 4 weeks that aims to help communities in the Cusco region who are less fortunate than ourselves. The programme aims for 4 UN Sustainable Development Goals: no poverty, good health and wellbeing, and clean water and sanitation. They are constantly doing project work out there to improve the standard of living and we will contribute to this work once we get there. Some of these projects include enhancing the educational facilities for the local children and building greenhouses to help with sustainable food production.

As part of the experience, we will also take part in a 4 day-trek to the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu.

To help me raise money towards my kit and equipment, I am doing a sponsored walk, where my Mum and I will be walking part of the Cleveland Way (from Whitby to Scarborough), a distance of around 20 miles. We aim to complete this in a day, on Saturday 28th March.
