We’re taking on a challenge as wild as the Welsh coast itself: swimming the equivalent distance from Aberystwyth to Cardiff — 150 miles — in just one week (18-24 May 2026). And we’re doing it not in open water, but in a 25‑metre community pool. That’s more than 9,600 lengths. Every-Single-One-Earned.
We’re doing this to champion the Builth Wells Community Pool, a lifeline in rural Powys and provide it with Anti-Wave Lane Ropes. It’s a place where confidence grows, health is strengthened, friendships form, and vital life‑saving skills are taught every day. It’s more than a pool. It’s a community anchor.
We’re looking for sponsors who believe in local resilience, ambition, and the power of community spaces. Stand with us, and help keep this incredible facility thriving for the people who rely on it.
There’s one challenge holding some swimmers back:
****** Choppy Water******
The lack of anti‑wave lane ropes caused turbulence that makes swimming difficult — especially for beginners, older participants, and those with lower confidence. For some, it turned an exciting challenge into a stressful experience.
Our Solution: Anti‑Wave Lane Ropes
Anti‑wave lane ropes dramatically reduce water movement, creating calmer, clearer lanes. They’ll make the Aquathlon:
Safer and more enjoyable
More inclusive for all abilities
More professional and confidence‑boosting
Even better, these ropes will be used year‑round by Freedom Leisure for:
Children’s swimming lessons and galas
Swimming training
Adult confidence and rehab sessions
Future community events
This is a long‑term investment in water safety, wellbeing, and participation.
Your donation will help turn churned water into calm confidence — and ensure everyone can enjoy the Aquathlon, whatever their ability.
Please sponsor us today and help us make waves for the right reasons.
