Good afternoon, I am a 6th class teacher in Rush National School and one of my pupils, has been undergoing treatment for cancer. Following 6 long sessions of treatment, his tumour reduced in size and was successfully removed. We were delighted to have him celebrate his Confirmation with his classmates on the 6th April. He has now completed two more treatment sessions and has 6 remaining. He is a remarkable young man and his family are unbelievably strong people.
The whole process has taken, and is taking, up a huge amount of their time and is extremely expensive. As a result, the Board of Management of Rush National School have agreed to host a fundraiser for him and his family. Having spoken to his Mam, she insisted that part of the funds raised are donated to Crumlin Children's Hospital. The remainder will help pay for some of the expenses incurred and fund a trip for him. He is a huge Liverpool fan! This would be a surprise!
In order to raise money for this great cause, we will be hosting a sponsored head shave on Friday 31st May. Along with 4 other volunteers, we will go head-to-head in order to see what teacher the students choose to have their heads shaven. This will be done by bringing in money to the school and putting money in the bucket of the teacher whose head they want shaved.
I am willing to shave my head ANYWAY if a minimum of €1000 is raised through this page. I know my former teammates will be excited by this news and I hope that all players, clubs, journalists and of course the fans of the #greatestleagueintheworld support this great cause. He truly is a remarkable young man.
