Sponsored Archaeological Field School Bursaries
Donation protected
Mercian Archaeological Services CIC are fundraising to enable people from disadvantaged backgrounds to attend Archaeological Training Field Schools through sponsored bursaries.
Please could you donate any amount towards providing one of these bursaries?
A bursary costs £450 and any donation will help towards someone being able to attend a field school who may otherwise not have done.
It will help raise funds towards potentially life changing opportunities for people from a disadvantaged areas to attend our training.
They will learn about the archaeological process including excavation, recording, finds processing and much more.
Many of the skills are transferable and can help people in their everyday work or when seeking employment in
other fields, or can help them launch or further a career in archaeology.
Mercian are a Community Interest Company (CIC), a not for profit organisation dedicated to the highest quality training and to ensuring that people from
all backgrounds can be inspired and supported to learn about archaeology.
Individuals on Mercian courses get to socialise and meet new people, make new friends as well as develop a shared interest for life. They spend time being active in the open air in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside. There are both mental and physical benefits for people with interests that take them outside.
“It was a fantastic experience and I came away feeling a lot more confident in my developing skills.”
Donate and become part of the ongoing story of one of the most historically important sites in Sherwood Forest and the UK.
All donations will go towards offering sponsored places. We will let people know as targets are met, and keep you up to date with how your money is being used.
