Last year we started a wilderness summer program for city kids & called it Wild Friends!
Our summer program was born out of a deep passion for nature, community, and belief in the transformative power of outdoor free play. We believe nature and play is for everyone!
We also believe in equity and work to dismantle the barriers to nature and free play by offering a sliding scale to BIPoC families starting at $0/session. Last summer we succeeded in covering over $3,500 of scholarships and stipends for kids of color, whose participation in turn increased the joy for everyone.
This year we are aiming to raise $4000 and with this GoFundMe, we invite our communities to join us in our resource sharing. Your donations will sponsor such expenses as:
- $300/kid/session - Free & low cost camp registration
- $30/cit/day - Stipends for our Counselors-in-Training
- $50/participant - Special uniforms to protect from Lymes, UV rays, & heat exhaustion.
- $30/day - Healthy food for participants & CiTs
- $25/week - Transportation costs for shuttling CiTs
Wild Friends is intended to be a life-giving place of community resource-sharing for everyone involved. Only together can we make a little piece of the world the way we believe it should be. Thank you for your support!!
Wild Friends was founded by a free-range 90s kid who grew up into a Quaker educator. Our program is rooted in Friends values and the desire to revel in the Divine everywhere. Visit our website for more information.
