Sponsor a Volunteering Trip to Help the Grassroots Trust
Donation protected
My name is Fae, and my school is partnered with the Grassroots Trust , an amazing charity which focuses on helping children in impoverished countries through their education by partnering with the local churches. The trust's child sponsorship program cares for 3000 children, with all the money from the £3.50-a-month sponsorship going to the child, and they do all this with only three employees and seven trustees. Due to this, the trust relies heavily on volunteers to help by going on Mission Trips. These involve annual reviews of the sponsored children, delivering gifts and toys, building beds, and checking accounts to ensure no misuse of funds.
I am fortunate enough to be going on one of these trips to Tanzania alongside peers from my school to help this special charity. I'm excited to see Tanzania, a country I’ve learnt so much about and always wanted to visit, and am so glad to be able to support Grassroots in the amazing work they do with the local community. It is a life-changing trip, with amazing experiences which affect the way one sees the world, with previous trip-goers explaining how fortunate they now see we are here in the UK, without major famines or dangerous water-shortages. To go, I will have to cover my own costs as the charity cannot afford to. This includes transport costs and rooming, amounting to approximately £2000. I have already been saving my own money, and will continue to save and raise more. I am also saving the money I get from doing favours for people, and I am in the process of planning a sponsored walk and quiz night. The money I raise from this is unlikely to be enough, and I ask for your help to get me there, as I won't be able to fund this trip without your donations.
To be clear: this money is not going directly to the charity! It is going to me so that I can cover the costs of the trip to volunteer with them, although I am planning to donate any extra money I raise to the charity.
So, can you sponsor me to help the children supported by Grassroots?
