Spencer Ellis - Eagle Project -

My name is Spencer Ellis and I am a Life Scout with Troop 450 at Ellendale Baptist Church is Bartlett, TN. One of the requirements for the Eagle Scout Rank, which is the highest rank in Scouting, is too complete a service project. This service project is planned, executed, and completed under the leadership of the Eagle candidate. Fundraising is one of the components of my project. First, I would like to tell you a bit about my Eagle Service Project.
St. Columba Episcopal Retreat Center is located in Bartlett, TN and serves the community` as a retreat center, meeting place, summer camp location, and a wedding location, to name a few. The center has a beautiful pond with an outdoor chapel, located on the property. Currently, there are metal benches for guests to sit on. The problem with the benches is that they get hot during the summer, as well as dirty from rain and dirt. Summer weddings are not scheduled, as often, due to these problems. The representative of St. Columba, Brad T., would like to replace the metal benches with wooden benches, which will give the outdoor chapel a more ‘natural’ appearance as well as provide more adequate seating for events.
I will be leading a team of volunteers in building and placing 18 – 12-foot wooden benches in the spot where the metal benches are now. This project will take 2 weekends to complete with November 3/4 and 10/11 designated. The first weekend will be grading the area and digging 72 holes for placement of the benches. Each bench will have 4 – 4 x 4 posts concreted 20 inches into the ground. We will grade the land at a 2 – 3-inch grade so the back rows are higher than the front so guests are not blocked from viewing. The second weekend will be the placing of the benches and concreting them into the ground. Scouts, under my leadership, will build the benches before the work weekends at one of our assistant scoutmaster workshops. Brad T. is determining whether they want crushed stone or grass seeds under the benches.
Fundraising Goal:
My goal is to raise $2600.00 for my Eagle Project. Below is a Materials List, with associated costs, for construction and placement of the benches.
Materials List:

I am reaching out to friends and family to assist in helping raise the funds for my Eagle Project. All donations will go towards completing my Eagle Project AND any monies remaining, upon completion, will be halved and forwarded to the Mid-South Food Bank and the Bees/Thistles program at St. Columba.
Note: The metal benches will be repurposed at St. Columba. Brad T. is thinking of using them for a fire ring to be built at a later date.
I have attached photos below of the area at St. Columba where we will be placing benches and the metal benches we are replacing.
