My name is Katie and in November last year I took on the challenge of running a half marathon in March.

I have never EVER ran so this is a real challenge. Every week I have been getting out and running to challenge myself and to raise money for Dementia UK.

My nanna Iris died from dementia and it's a disease that is incredibly cruel. Cruel to watch a person you love fade away and cruel to the family are no longer recognized or remembered. My nanna suffered for a long, long time and without care in the end looking after Nanna for my Taid and the family this would have been impossible.

Hopefully a cure is found in the future so nobody else has to suffer.
