Hi friends!
We are the Souzas—Thiago, Rachel, Jessica, and James—a Brazilian missionary family blessed to serve with the YWAM Harpenden community in the United Kingdom for almost nine years now!
Our journey here is far from over, and we are excited to continue the mission God has called us to. To make this possible, we need to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), which will allow us to stay and serve long-term. We’d love for you to be part of this final step with us!
Communicating the values and principles of the Gospel is something we are deeply passionate about. That’s why Thiago is committed to sharing these values through his work in the local church, where he serves as a creative content producer, and by contributing to YWAM Harpenden and YWAM.org.
His roles include IT, Chapel Co (a collective worship group), and supporting the media team with a weekly Livestream's ( Thursdays Night Gathering - TNG) Additionally, he manages live streams across various platforms, directs weekly broadcasts with Elder Lynn Green—where biblically grounded discussions on relevant topics take place—and plays a key role in running the campus TV and music studio.
Meanwhile, Rachel has been faithfully serving by leading the YWAM Harpenden kitchen, where she plans and oversees the preparation of meals for an average of 70–100 people per meal. Through this, she plays a vital role in supporting those being equipped to spread the Gospel.
In addition, she serves in the café, cultivating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. She also volunteers at the local pottery studio, which is open to the wider community, helping to create a space where people can connect, express their creativity, and experience a sense of belonging.
Jess has recently returned from completing her Discipleship Training School and Discipleship Bible School, and she is filled with excitement to continue serving God through full-time missions. With a heart for ministry, she is preparing to step into this next chapter by joining the YWAM Harpenden staff in the very near future!
James continues to attend school diligently, growing in confidence and embracing who he is with each passing day.
Today, we are blessed to call this place HOME.

It is our great pleasure and privilege to have Thiago Souza and his family as part of our YWAM Harpenden community. I work very closely with Thiago and he is indispensable to me. I have a deep desire to communicate more and in better ways to all of YWAM and beyond. When I was first commissioned to communicate more and more intentionally, I did not know how I would manage to do that, but then God sent Thiago and Rachel to live here.
Thiago is very knowledgeable and skilled; he thinks strategically and has an amazing ability to navigate through all kinds of communication tools and technology. Because Thiago works alongside me, I can focus on my part, which is creating content and Thiago thinks through strategy, takes initiative, tests the effectiveness of different approaches and steadily increases the number of people reached.
Since he began to work with me, we have seen the number of views on our website grow to nearly five times as much as I had before Thiago came. In addition to that, he has developed several other social media platforms. Thiago and Rachel are good stewards of finances and live principled lives so I warmly commend them to anyone who wishes to take an interest in their ministry and especially to those who would be able to support them on an ongoing basis.

Thiago and his family have been called by God to the mission field, and it is here that we are seeing the impact they are making on His kingdom. God has gifted Thiago with the ability to tell stories; stories that convey the truth of God and communicate the good news of Jesus in an accessible and engaging way.
In his role at Verso Church as Creative Producer, Thiago is tasked with reaching out with this message through the production and broadcast of our Sunday services, additional video content and social media content and promotions. Since his time with us, our online reach has grown exponentially, reaching thousands with the message of Jesus and we are excited as we look ahead at the next few years as we dream together for reaching the lost for Christ.
Thiago is a man who seeks God and demonstrates Godly character and stewardship of the resources God has given them, and I commend their ministry to you.
