The South Windsor Police Department Honor Guard in conjunction with the South Windsor Police Department Union is creating a GoFundMe page for their upcoming trip to Washington DC to participate in the annual Police Week. The Honor Guard is sending five officers to the event to represent the agency and pay respects to those Officers who have fallen in the line of duty. It has been 20 years since the South Windsor Police Department Honor Guard has represented the department at this event. The Honor Guard was prepared to participate in 2020 to honor South Windsor Sergeant Matthew Mainieri’s name being placed on the wall, however the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled the in-person event. The South Windsor Police Union is looking for assistance in off-setting costs associated with room and board and other travel expenses. Additionally, funds will go towards new equipment that will be utilized during Police Week, as well as support the Honor Guard’s traditional yearly events. On behalf of the Union and the department’s officers and staff, we thank all those who participate in advance and will provide updates via this site as our preparations progress.
