Souper Jenny Kindness Tour

ABOUT THE SOUPER JENNY KINDNESS TOUR:

The need for love and kindness, generosity and benevolence, has never been greater. Not in our lifetimes. During this time of COVID and systemic racism coming to the forefront,  I’ve felt the loss, the division, the fear and uncertainty, the illness, the injustices befalling our country and our communities. And I feel a call to action.

Many of you know that my culinary life started with a tour around the world. Meeting people and learning their recipes and stories along the way. Now is my time to give back. So, here I go! I am going to take a 6-week sabbatical from my restaurant life and hit the road. My plan is to do some good.

I am honored to have an amazing team of people in my restaurants. They can easily handle the day-to-day while I'm away. Heck, they probably won't even notice I'm gone! :)

THE PLAN:

On October 12, my gal pal, Meg and I are going to load into an RV and head West! All the way to the shining sea. We will stop at local farms and orchards, buy their produce and products, turn it into soup and we will feed anyone nearby that is hungry--at a distance, of course! Research will be diligently done. We will partner with organizations and schools and ministries and people we meet to offer RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS through good cheer and delicious soup.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

If I may be so bold, I believe this a great story in the making. Maybe, just maybe we can make a difference. Why don’t you join us?

1.
Think of ways to spread kindness. It could be holding the door open for a stranger or calling a friend you haven't spoken to in a while. Don't think too hard about it - and then DO IT!

2.
We are looking for donations
. A little bit goes a long way. We're using the platform here in gofundme and are asking people to give what they can.

I can feed a crew of First Responders for around $50. Hospital crews coming off a long shift? $100 A station house full of handsome, burly firemen? No charge!
One night at an RV Park? $35 Tank of gas? $75, if we’re lucky. Supplies and packaging? $500

We will keep a list of every donation received, and let you know exactly where your money goes!

3.
We are also looking for suggestions and recommendation of partners along the way. Know of any great farms, organizations, people in need? Let me know. I will have the route and list of cities in the next week or so, and would be grateful for connections.

4.
Lastly, please spread the word. If you know of friends or family members who may find this interesting, please share. If you have or know a business who may want to sponsor supplies or a meal, please let me know.

This is the start of a greater conversation, I don’t know how this will all play out. But inaction is not helpful here. If I want my world to be filled with KINDNESS, I need to do something about it.

As John Lewis so eloquently said in his last letter to The New York Times, "Ordinary people with extraordinary vision can redeem the soul of America by getting in what I call good trouble, necessary trouble."

I feel the urge, and I invite you join along.
