I drove in a daze and thought, "I will never tell a soul about this. I'll work really hard and when I achieve ultimate success (maybe Beyoncé or Oprah status), then and only then will I tell the world: A few nights before my college graduation, a stranger abducted and raped me."

Since then, I have invested in spaces of healing for myself and others to release shame and repair or simply unravel the harm that we've endured.

Sexual violence is something too many of us experience. Since it's been normalized, it's definitely time we normalize healing and prevention around it.

No longer taboo, survivors are coming together in joy, abundance, and radical truth-telling to change the way we respond to, heal from, and prevent sexual violence.

And some of us lovingly call it Soul Showers.

Soul Showers is a survivor circle that cleanses shame, repairs harm and creates 'healing in the sun' for people who have experienced sexual violence.

It has emotional, social, and practical components that help survivors drive our healing journeys forward. We create abundant and loving spaces for survivors to be cared for, deeply witnessed and supported in their healing journey after experiencing sexual violence.

We believe that survivors come from every background sex and gender and that true justice is not born of punishment and revenge but out of the safe making of our people and communities.
