On June 24, Venezuela was struck by two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5, occurring just seconds apart. Because both earthquakes originated on land at a shallow depth of approximately 11 km, the damage has been severe across multiple cities, including the capital, Caracas.

Aftershocks continue to shake the region, including a magnitude 4.1 earthquake overnight. Many families are too afraid to return to their homes and are spending the night outdoors while authorities assess damaged buildings under a nationwide state of emergency.
