Sondra’s never ending health saga

Hello everyone! My name is Kendra, I am Sondra’s daughter. We are seeking support with medical bills, travel, stays etc.

Back in October she was diagnosed with pancreatitis. She was put on a special diet to help manage the stomach pains she was having. While some days were better than others we felt like the diet alone wasn’t enough.

In February she went in for surgery for a hysterectomy and gallbladder removal. She was a new woman after that! Things started looking real good into her 6 week recovery date.

Then April hit….. more stomach problems came out of no where. She could hardly eat, the pain was unbearable in her body. She was sent for emergency surgery in Salina where we found out a cyst has closed off her colon. This lead to them taking about 8 inches of her colon. She also got to come home with a drain tube in her pancreas (which she absolutely despised)!

Since then, she has been able to get the tube removed…. BUT…. Over a month ago her vision started going crazy. She had trouble seeing out of her right eye, which is mainly double vision, and it’s hard for her to want to keep it open. After numerous doctors, scans, insurance denials and even a trip to ku med, we have been told that she has a mass on her skull (Clivus) near the pituitary gland. While we all took it really hard we are ready for her to get better!

She had surgery to remove the mass on 7/15. It was a long 6 hour surgery and couple days recovery at Ku Med. The Tumor was about 2" long. Doc was pretty sure he got about 98% of it except what is already imbedded in the brain tissue, veins, bone and nerves. She was able to come home one 7/18 for 3-4 weeks of healing, then would proceed with radiation.

What we had originally been told from pathology we THOUGHT we were cancer free! Turns out on 8/1 the doctors called and she actually did in fact have cancer. The term for cancer diagnosis is called Adenocarcinoma of sphenodial sinus.

She will have to proceed with 7 weeks of radiation 5 days a week and chemo 1 day a week all in Kansas City.
