Somerforde Fundraiser

Donation protected
We are Somerforde Residential home, we have this week watched some scenes on the news regards to Ukraine and the war STILL going on, affecting children and animals, etc., some STILL in 2022 awful scenes, one that resonated with us, was a video of 15 or so families stuck in a steelworks basement with their children, they have been there for eight weeks, in a dark underground, no sunlight and no idea of the world above, worried about coming out

Watch the link ……
Video appears to show women and children sheltering inside Mariupol's Azovstal steelworks as Russian attacks continue - ABC News

This is so much of the world we have lived in … Just alone, back in 1939, the evacuation of Britain's cities at the start of World War Two was the most significant and most concentrated mass movement of people in Britain's history. In the first four days of September 1939, nearly 3,000,000 people were transported from towns and cities in danger from enemy bombers to places of safety in the countryside.
Most were schoolchildren, labelled like pieces of luggage, separated from their parents, and accompanied by a small army of guardians - 100,000 teachers. It was an incredible event, a logistical nightmare of coordination and control beginning with the terse order to 'Evacuate forthwith,' issued at 11.07 am on Thursday, 31 August 1939. Few realised that within a week, a quarter of the population of Britain would have a new address.

More recently, Covid in 2020 ended up with us having to isolate in our Care home (with 1 day’s notice) with our residents not being able for months on end to see families, for us to have all our lives changed so much to be nothing like we knew. All our human rights for everything to be taken, and worried and fear to leave our Care Home which was at the time our safe place (Fear of Death if we contracted Covid or our residents did) … Listening to Media …but we did have media we did have each other. We would sit in our gardens, see the sunlight, and make it through…..
So, after having a long discussion, we have decided to start a Somerforde go Fund me, to help to raise funds
