Holding on for My Kids—We Just Need a Little Help

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Thomas Gage Soliz, and I’m reaching out with a heart full of humility and hope.

I’m a father of seven, a husband, and a man doing everything in my power to build a better future for my family.

My journey hasn’t been easy—growing up in South Texas, I was raised by my great-grandparents after my parents divorced. My great-grandfather was like a father to me, and losing him during high school was one of the hardest moments of my life.

After graduating in 2010, I pursued culinary school in Galveston, but had to leave when my great-grandmother—my biggest supporter—suffered a heart attack. I came home and immediately started working offshore and later in construction, doing everything I could to help.

In my late 20s, I made a desperate decision trying to provide for my growing family and became a felon overnight. That mistake still follows me today. But I didn’t give up. I found love, became a father, and with each new child, I found a deeper reason to keep going.

Since then, we’ve faced more hardship than I ever imagined—homelessness, job loss, eviction, living in hotels, and most recently, the loss of my great-grandmother who helped raise me. My wife, the backbone of our family, was wrongfully let go from her job while pregnant with our seventh child. We’re now pursuing legal action for that injustice.

Today, we’re trying to hold on—for our kids, for our family, and for the future we believe in.

We’re asking for $30,000 to help our family regain stability. Your support will help us:
• Catch up on housing and utilities
• Secure a reliable vehicle for our large family
• Cover clothing, supplies, and essentials for our seven children
• Handle trade school costs and licensing fees
• Provide a small buffer to keep us from falling back into crisis

This isn’t about luxury—it’s about survival, stability, and second chances.

We’re currently going through a foreclosure on our home, and I was only able to stop it by filing for bankruptcy—with the help of a compassionate company called Second Chance Home Heros that believed in our story. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, but I did it for my family, to give us one more chance to hold on to the only stability we have left. We currently have one small vehicle for a family of nine, and we’ve fallen behind on bills and mortgage payments. I’m enrolled in trade school through the IBEW to become a licensed electrician and finally provide long-term stability, but even that journey is full of obstacles due to my past record. We’re working toward a future where we’re not just surviving, but thriving.

Any donation, big or small, is a blessing. If you can’t give, please share our story. I believe in second chances—and I’m fighting every day to prove I’m worth one.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your kindness means more than words can say.

With love,
The Soliz Family
