Support SWAC DC: Safety, Support, and Solidarity for DC’s Sex Worker Community

SWAC DC is a cultural movement of street-based organizers by and for sex workers on the strolls in Washington, DC and the surrounding communities.

Our work saves lives.

We are up against a brutal reality. Sex workers in DC—especially Black trans women—face constant harassment, violence, and exploitation, all caused by the criminalization of our survival. The people running DC aren’t the ones walking these streets. We are.

Our presence alone increases safety. When SWAC DC is out, people take notice. Violent behavior and police harassment drop when we’re around—we make it clear that sex workers are not alone. We check in, de-escalate conflict, and interrupt harm before it happens. Our visibility is a shield.

We don’t wait for permission to protect each other. SWAC DC moves in real time, in real danger, with real love. That also means we need real resources.

This Fundraiser supports:

—Weekly patrols with harm reduction supplies and peer support

—Mutual aid for sex workers in crisis

—Wages for our team, because we are all directly-impacted and all deserve to be paid for our time
