Who we are:
Sogya Al-Sudan is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing sustainable water sources for rural communities who suffer from access to clean water. As water touches every aspects of our lives, the individual and communal risks of not having access to clean water are numerous including health, education, economic growth, and safety to name a few.
Mission: The mission of Sogya Al- Sudan is to support rural communities in Sudan by building water wells to help create a sustainable and clean water system for all people.
Vision: We envision a Sudan where every woman, man, and child has access to clean drinking water no matter their socioeconomic level. No one should ever have to decide between risking their health and having clean water.
This vision began in January 2016, took a pause and came back beginning 2018. In the last 4 years, to name a few accomplishments, we have dug wells, provided water to families, schools, healthcare centers, villages, dormatories, Quranic/Islamic colleges, and cities.
We have been sharing our message via Facebook and WhatsApp groups in order to raise awareness of this issue and raise seed funding to get the project off the ground. All donations go directly to the making of wells.
The cost of creating a water supply well in Sudan varies from one area to another depending on many factors. These factors include; location, type of soil, water depth and the cost of the drilling rig among others. In general the cost of a well with a hand driven pump starts around $2,500. Artesian water wells with an electric or diesel pump start at $7,500. We are currently in the process of buying a digging machine to lower the price of building wells. We invite you to donate to build a well as an individual, a couple, a family, a school or other group. You may make any contribution to drilling a well.
