Hi, I’m Lucy Rocca, founder of Soberistas.

Fifteen years ago, after my own difficult relationship with alcohol came to a head, I went looking for support that felt compassionate, free from judgement, and that resonated with my personal experiences of drinking. I couldn’t find it. So I decided to create it.

Soberistas began as a very simple online forum built on a shoestring budget. I wasn’t trying to start a business or a charity - I just wanted to make sure that nobody else had to sit alone with the fear, shame and confusion that so often surrounds binge drinking.

What grew from that small beginning is something far bigger than I ever imagined. Today Soberistas is a global online community where thousands of people have come to rethink their relationship with alcohol and build a life that no longer revolves around drinking.

Over the years we’ve developed a wide range of support: community forums, expert advice, webinars, structured programmes, live online meetings and a welcoming space where people can talk openly about what they’re going through.

Soberistas is now a registered charity. That means we can keep this support available to people who might otherwise struggle to access help. We deliberately keep our membership fees as low as possible so that the community remains accessible - but doing that means we rely on donations to help cover the real costs of running the platform.

Why does Soberistas matter?

⭐ Because for many people it becomes a lifeline - a place where they finally feel understood.

⭐ Because alcohol is woven into so much of our culture, and stepping away from it can feel isolating without the right support.

⭐ Because when one person changes their relationship with alcohol, the positive effects reach far beyond them - into their families, workplaces and communities.
