Hi my name is Gareth and I am raising money for the Sober Butterfly Collective an organisation that tackles social isolation in a number of different ways for people who want to find friends in sobriety.
This organisation helps support people when all hope for some seems lost, I like to refer to this as Social Recovery, something I am very passionate about because nobody should have to feel alone in this world. Therefore I will be running the Great North Run, all 13.1 miles while having issues around mobility. I feel I have to take part in this activity because my health is deteriorating.
I have been in recovery from all substances for over 6 years now but had done damage to my body that I will have to live with for the rest of my life. Diabetes, hypertension, leg and foot issues such as plantar nerve entrapment all contribute towards physical health concerns.
However I have the most amazing people around me who will help me over the finish line and I feel everyone should have people to support them. This is what the Sober Butterfly Collective does, it creates support in thousands of different ways. So even if its £1 or £100 please help support this wonderful community.
Thank you.
