Caring for Charlotte

On December 12, 2021, first-time parents Joshua and Karla announced the birth of their beautiful identical twins, Charlotte Rose and Olivia Skye. Karla was carrying monoamniotic twins, a very rare and risky pregnancy. Early on, there were concerns regarding Charlotte’s development. Though she was born with one lung, she had a good prognosis. As weeks passed, Charlotte began having difficulties swallowing/feeding and breathing. On January 29th, 2022, she was admitted to the ICU and placed on life support. She has seen many ups and downs- undergoing surgery on February 15th to move an artery and resect & enlarge her trachea. Today Charlotte is still unable to breathe independently and just underwent another surgery last week to place a stent in her trachea. She has a long road ahead of her (at least three months in the hospital). Charlotte has been a fighter through it all, a "fire" in her soul and a strong will to survive. She misses her sister and being held by her parents.

During this time, we are seeking your thoughts and prayers first and foremost. Karla remains steadfast at Charlotte’s side and visits Olivia while Josh juggles work and spends time with his daughters. Karla's sister, Karen, cares for Olivia and the Valliere home.
