Dear Friends,
Today we are asking for a small favour. We are asking you to skip your coffee for the day. With the cost of a cup of your favourite artisan roast, you can help ease the burden of a young family that mean so much to us. They would not think of asking for help themselves.
Our Brother and sister in law have been on an emotional journey for the past few months since learning of a rare heart condition in their soon to be born baby. Many that have been following this journey have reached out asking how you can help. Here is how. Skip your coffee today or for the week if you can. Any little bit will help ease the burden of having to live in a different city for the past few weeks and now a new province for the coming weeks.
Early in Kelsey's pregnancy she went for a routine ultrasound and was given the devastating news that the babies heart wasn't developing normally. They found out about halfway into their pregnancy that their little one has a rare heart defect called HLHS (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome). Kelsey had to move into the city to be closer to the specialists prior to delivery. Nate and family ran back and forth to the city from Chilliwack with little sleep while minding their beautiful 2 year old daughter and work obligations.
A big and strong Baby Houston was born in Vancouver on June 11th. When he was not even 48hrs old Kelsey and baby were flown to Edmonton as their surgeon in Vancouver was away and unable to perform the operation. Nate had to catch the next available flight and despite some complications, made it there as soon as he could. They have been beyond blessed to receive the most amazing care from all the medical staff in Edmonton since they day they arrived.
At just a week old Houston had an intense 6 hour surgery, which is the 1st of 3 required over the next few years of his life in order to rebuild his little heart. They are now expected to be away from their family and staying in Edmonton for the next few weeks so his surgical team can monitor him closely.
The costs of travelling back and forth to the city and now living in another province have added up. Many have asked how they can help, your prayers and positive thoughts are huge help. Relieving a bit of the stress when the focus should be their beautiful new addition would also be greatly appreciated. If you can spare your coffee today or for a few days, your contribution to this fund will mean more than you can know.
Thank you sincerely for looking.
