Hello! This fundraiser is for road building/ repair for my momma, Rose Cochran- the founder, president, and land owner of Saving Webster Dogs. My mom is a total bad ass, if you know her, then you know that I'm not exaggerating in the least little bit.. ontop of the HUNDREDS of four legged lovies she's saved, vetted, rehomed- she's also a widow, a mother, a nana, and most recently- a great nana, and now she's also a cancer patient..

At the end of May, early June, we started a journey that none of us had prepared for. While making summer plans of camping, fishing, traveling, kayaking and exploring, she noticed a knot in her breast. She chalked it up to her rescue mastiff, Reba, until the knot never improved. It never went away, and never stopped hurting, so she did something that she rarely does and went to the doctor..

From there, they've done two or three mammograms, and two ultrasounds.. we are now mid July and have dealt with biopsies, PET scans, nuclear tests, MRIs, CT scans, bloodwork, and finally a port placement.. in the middle of all that she was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Chemotherapy has been scheduled twice now, while waiting for a bone biopsy and bone scan (scheduled for July 18th), due to a questionable "blip" found on her pelvic bone..

She is looking at atleast 6 months of Chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, radiation, and eventually reconstructive surgery.

Atleast twice a week everything has been changing- different appointments, being 1.5 or 2.5 hours away (one way).

Something that hasn't changed has been our road to her home/Saving Webster Dogs. If you've been on our road, then you understand even on a good sunny day, it is rough. A small car will not make it without dragging, most vehicles need 4wheel drive to avoid spinning.. Once everything started happening with my mom, I noticed on our way home from an appointment that she was having to physically hold her chest, even going less than 10mph, to avoid pain taking her breath away.. You see, we live on an old strip mine, once or twice has been logged for timber- we've literally had to rent a jack hammer for road repair in the past, to barely make a dent in the massive rocks building our road. The ditches have overgrown, giving rainfall nowhere to go except all over the roadway- causing deep trenches that jar your body, regardless of your speed/vehicle/health.

It was that evening that I told my husband we had to do something. Everyone dreads going to a doctor's appointment, especially if you've been diagnosed with something severe like her. But no one should dread simply driving home from such appointments. We are currently making 1-4 trips to doctors a week, thats 2-8 times of dreading the drive to and from your safe space because of a road.

We are not city or state maintained. Our neighbors, and us, have tried several times to fix our road with little to no success. We received an estimate from a Nicholas County guy and his business (Dirt Boyz Excavating) - road repair, drainage, rock grinding/digging is going to be around 8k... once that is completed it will take around 8-9k for gravel to finish it. Totaling us to 16-18k.

I've looked into grants for 501c non profits (Saving Webster Dogs), cancer patients, you name it - so far I've come up with nothing.
