Luke’s Eagle Scout Service Project

My name is Luke Vasquez. I am 14-years old and a Life Scout in BSA Troop 179, based in Cypress, Texas.

This fundraiser is for my Eagle Scout Service Project, which will benefit Fairfield Baptist Church in Cypress, Texas in memory of my piano teacher, Mr. Stephen Habermacher. I started piano lessons with Mr. Habermacher at 5 1/2 years of age in 2013 and he showed me the appreciation and love of music through the keys of a piano. Since his passing in January 2020, his widow Mrs. Habermacher has continued my education in piano and she continues to encourage me to be the best I can be in my Guild Auditions.

My service project consists of a landscaped outdoor sitting area (Project) to be constructed under a beautiful oak tree that has an umbrella of approximately fifty feet in diameter and is located at Fairfield Baptist Church. This Project will be circular in plan and have three sitting benches constructed of recyclable materials and landscaped with plants/flowers, crush granite pathways and mulch. A dedication plaque in memory of Mr. Habermacher and a separate plaque for major donators will be fabricated and installed at the site. This Project circular area is 30’ in diameter and has a 5’ wide pathway to an entry point on site. Irrigation, landscape edging and if funds allow, solar-powered lighting will be included. My plan is to complete my project in March 2022 to assure that my planned landscape plants are not affected by the winter months.

I ask for your help with providing financial contributions to purchase materials and supplies for this project. I will need to buy the materials and account for all of the donated money before the start of this project. I will have volunteer Scouts from my Troop to assist in the completion of this memorial project with my leadership in Project Management and guiding my fellow Scouts to the success of the project.

Your contributions and your prayers for the success of this project are very greatly appreciated. I am dedicated and focused to complete this project in memory of Mr. Habermacher. 

My goal is to provide Fairfield Baptist Church this garden and sitting area so that they utilize as an outdoor family counseling area for their members.
