Gigi is a little girl who fills every room with light. Her laughter is infectious, her smile unforgettable, and her spirit—stronger than words can ever truly capture.

Recently, our world shifted in a way we never expected. After months of worry, questions, countless appointments, an MRI scan revealed Gigi had peri ventricular leukomalacia (PVL) a severe form of cerebral palsy. It’s something no family is ever prepared to hear. We searched for answers, hoping to understand why this had happened—but after extensive testing, research, and genetic investigations, no cause has been found. There is no explanation. Just a reality we now face together.

We were also told something no parent ever wants to hear—that the NHS believe Gigi may never walk. Those words were devastating. They stopped us in our tracks and broke our hearts in a way we didn’t know was possible.

But if there is one thing we know about Gigi, it’s that she is not defined by a diagnosis—or by limitations placed on her future.

That is why, as a family, we have made the difficult decision to take matters into our own hands and pursue private treatment. We refuse to accept a future defined by “never.” Instead, we are determined to explore every possible avenue to give Gigi the best chance at independence, movement, and a life without limits.

Since her diagnosis, we have thrown ourselves into learning, researching, and finding the best possible options to support her. One of the most important steps in that journey is access to specialised, intensive physiotherapy. This therapy can make a life-changing difference—helping Gigi develop her coordination, strength, and movement.

This will be a long and challenging road for Gigi. There will be difficult days, moments of exhaustion, and obstacles along the way. But there will also be progress, courage, and victories—big and small—that we will celebrate every single step of the journey.
