Sky Weir-Rebuilding schools in Dominican Republic

As part of the transition into my junior year I am going on a 4 week volunteer expedition next month to help rebuild school buildings in several villages in the Dominican Republic near the border of Haiti. I am helping the Visions foundation which has been part of over 1,200 construction projects including 26 Community Centers, 3 Medical Clinics, 62 Homes, 25 Schools, and 60 Playgrounds.This will be an immersion, mainly speaking Spanish, no electronic devices, joining cultural events such as festivals, and staying with local families. Throughout the program we develop close relationships with the locals, our teammates, and most importantly ourselves. 

One of the personal challenges is to raise funds to contribute to the rebuilding of these schools for ongoing education in this part of the world.
