SKID ROW ENCOUNTER
I am a veterinarian/business owner, mom, wife, person of faith. I fell in love with this family when I brought a team from my veterinary hospital to perform veterinary services as a veterinarian on Skid Row a few months ago at the Wayfarer Foundation's Skid Row Carnival of Love (I'm far left in the photo below). Patti is a doctor of veterinary medicine from Brazil and is waiting to get her work permit. I fell in love with her husband's support and dedication to his wife and 1 year old daughter and have developed a trusting relationship with them built on service and love. The funds will be for them to get into low-income housing (deposit, first and last) until she gets her work permit. Dr. Patti is legal but does not have work authorization. The fees for filing the papers is approximately 2500 dollars. Once she submits the fees, her work permit will arrive in 4 months and they will be set I will be mentoring her in my veterinary hospital so that she can gain skills to pass the board exams. Any additional funds will be used for their living expenses while she trains at my veterinary hospital to gain skills which will ensure her ability to obtain her California veterinary license.
HOUSING PLAN
They need the funds ASAP because it's their last day in the temporary housing and I do not want them to be on the street with their baby. If I don't get all the funds, partial funds will be used for continued motel stays. However, it is more economical if they are able to use it for rent as even the cheapest motels are more costly.
