Today I spent the first half of my birthday volunteering in the Skid Row area of Downtown LA. I was invited by a friend who works with My Friend’s House Foundation to help offer food and clothing to the homeless community. While I was there, I was overwhelmed by all the joyful volunteers, and the respectful nature of the people being helped. After about an hour though, I learned a horrible truth that lead me to take immediate action. Apparently, only a few weeks ago, My Friend’s House Foundation had a van stolen that held many of the supplies they use in servicing the community. Tents, folding tables, bins, hand washing stations, so many useful and valuable items they’d accumulated in their 15yrs of service just gone within the blink of an eye. As I looked around, I saw the team of volunteers were happily making due with what little they had to work with, but it honestly broke my heart. Many people have asked me what I want for my birthday and I didn’t know what to say, but I feel like if I could get even a few of my friends and followers to donate to My Friend’s House Foundation for my birthday, many of the stolen supplies could be replaced in time for the holidays. Please join me in making a difference, and donate what you can. All money will go directly to benefit My Friend's House Foundation, and help to replace their stolen supplies. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
