I have been a teacher at San Bernardino High School for the past 31 years. Over this time I have been donating used and new skateboards to kids that skate, but can't afford one.
All of the money will go to purchase new skateboard decks with tape. If I raise enough money, I will be able to build complete boards to give away.
Most of the kids that skate usually have wheels and trucks, but not all of them.
For the used boards I just give them away, first come, first served.
For the new boards I require them to write a 1 to 3 page essay on a subject that I pick. The length is based on which deck or complete board they want.
I believe that if kids are skating, then they are just being kids, and staying out of trouble.
