On Tuesday 28th October 2025, Hurricane Melissa made landfall on the beautiful island of Jamaica.

The category 5 storm tore homes apart, caused landslides and reduced entire neighbourhoods to debris. Families who once lived vibrant lives are now struggling to find shelter and basic necessities to survive.

Schools and hospitals have been destroyed. The devastation is overwhelming-the place so many called home is now just a memory.

Despite the loss and heartbreak Jamaica has a spirit of resilience and we know that we are each other's keeper! The little that is left; communities have been forced to share amongst themselves and hold on to hope and keep their faith.

Unfortunately, hope is not enough!

Melissa has left catastrophic damage. Children have been left without schools in some areas, the sick have no access to healthcare and many just have no safe place or shelter to rest at night.

St Michael's Church of Jesus Christ is a registered charity with a congregation which has a dense Caribbean population.

A lot of our members have family that have suffered loss; and we as a church feel that the people of Jamaica are our extended family. It is within our humanitarian efforts to assist and help to rebuild.

No matter how small EVERY contribution will go towards restoring and rebuilding a stronger Jamaica!

Funds raised will go towards non-perishable food items. As well as personal care / hygiene products for men and women, In addition we would like to purchase nappies, wipes and clothing items for babies and children. With enough funds we hope to purchase items that persons can use with immediate benefit for temporary housing such as corrugated steel and plywood.
