For the Los Angeles and Ventura County for now…
Hello, our names are Kimberly and Mary Magana. We are proud Mexican-American sisters working to uplift and protect the immigrant community-a community that is currently facing growing hostility and fear under the current presidential administration. We know that at the current moment the immigrant population is the most vulnerable and that is why they are being harassed and targeted.
Our Motivation:
Kimberly:
“Hello my name is Kimberly Magana and I am a humanitarian and advocate for human rights. I believe Immigrants are not criminals but rather hardworking individuals that not able to provide for their families, attend doctors appointments or obtain proper medical care because they are being targeted by the current administration. My heart is in pieces seeing how they tear this community apart we know they need our help and I know that as a community we can make a difference. I want to remind those that injustice to one is injustice to all. I am only one person but I know that there are others like my sister and I who support, empathize and appreciate the immigrant community. Our aid will help those either directly or indirectly (children left alone) affected by this persecution.”
Mary:
“My name is Mary Stephanie Magaña. I am a second-generation Mexican American— a daughter, a wife, and a mother. Our parents instilled in me the importance of keeping our cultural traditions alive. Our grandparents came to the United States from Mexico in search of a better life for our family. Because of their journey and sacrifice, I’ve grown passionate about making sure we can help as many people today to have access to basic necessities like food, clothing, and clean water during these difficult times. The recent ICE raids and detentions in Ventura County brought the crisis home for me. It was the first time I witnessed up close the fear and trauma it caused—not just in my community, but in me personally.”
Why we’re supporting?
People are afraid to leave their homes. Families are being torn apart. Many are facing legal and financial crises, with many wrongfully detained or caught in mass arrests across the counties. Children, elders, and entire communities are left without support, and this is why me and my sister are launching this GoFundMe to provide direct aid to those too afraid to ask for help.
