Sir Charles Naming Opportunity @ TU Hillel
Donation protected
In October, I attended Family Weekend at Towson University where my son is a Junior majoring in Sport Management. I had the opportunity to attend a campus Sabbath program and dinner sponsored by the Towson University's Hillel Department. During this wonderful experience with staff, students and families, we were given information on how parents can be involved and participate in organization's goals, mission and endeavors. I came across an opportunity to be able to name a space in honor and in memory of my day Charles W. Steele, Sr., so affectionately known to many as, 'Sir Charles', because of his kind, gentle, loving demeanor and chivalry mannerism, he exemplified. Unfortunately, my father left this world, unexpectedly, on Labor Day 2004, after working and retiring from the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington D.C. after 35 years of service. My father was decorated veteran in the Army. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son , grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and mentor to many. My father had a heart devoted to mentoring and assisting the youth, primarily our young men, in which the Sir Charles Spirit of Excellence Award was started and have been in existence since 2005 and our annual Sir Charles Annual Family Fun Day. My father had a distinct laugh and smile that demanded attention when he entered a room. So whatever room is named in his honor will represent that. My father just loved people in general and always was willing to give a helping hand to better oneself. My father was a family and believed in enjoying life. He once said," Life life to the fullest with no regrets, because you never know when your time is up." He lived each day to the fullest and he left this world with no regrets.
I would like to raise $3,500 for the Welcome Entrance or Office space. If I do not make it to $3,500, hopefully I can do a Lounge or Recreation Area for $1,800. Any level will allow me to honor my father's life that ended too soon by participating in Towson University's Hillel - Naming Opportunity in recognizing and honoring the life and legacy of my father, Sir Charles W. Steele, Sr.
All funds raised goes to TU Hillel Organization but allows my father's name to be recognized in an area in the new TU Hillel new Towson Common facility. This campaign will go until December 13, 2021 (my father's b'day). The Naming Opportunities are as follows:
$10,000.00 - Naming of the Towson Commons Space
$5,000.00 - Kitchen Space
$3,500.00 - Welcome Entrance and Offices
$1,800.00 - Lounge/Recreation Area
