Single Dad had stroke can’t work gotta pay bills

Hi, my name is Reid Oliver, I am 58 years old. I live in Mandurah WA with my 2 kids, Skye who is almost 14, and Max who is nearly 12. My kids live with me 100% of the time. Although I get government support I have always worked as much as I could while being there for my kids as well. I have a mortgage that is currently almost $200,000, and with all of the other bills, the parenting payment just doesn’t cut it. If i was renting I would get rent assistance but get nothing to help pay the mortgage. Unfortunately I won’t be able to work for at least 8 to 10 weeks as I have just suffered a mild stroke. I am hopeful that I will be able to return to work in a couple of months, but nothing is guaranteed. I am asking for any sort of donation, no matter how small, so that I can keep paying all of the bills, but keeping the house is the most important.

I have always worked hard, and when I have made my mind up to do something I have always given 110% to do as good as I could. Same with my kids. They have been 100% in my care for about 2 and a half years now. I do everything for them. I very rarely drink alcohol, and don’t smoke (anything) anymore. I don't go out.

All I do is work and look after my kids, and try to be the best dad I possibly can for them. It has been a very difficult, long, emotionally draining, stressful, and financially devastating 7 years or so since separation from the kids mum. I endured more than 30 self represented appearances in Family court in 3 years. It took 4 months to get the court to enforce their own order that the kids could not be taken out of WA and order that they be returned to WA. I was lucky in a way, as i did eventually have a reasonably fair outcome. I know of many great dads who have not been as lucky as myself. Nonetheless it has been an ordeal and a massive financial hit. But so worth it, my kids are the best! I am so proud of them! I just want to be able to continue to be there for them, for as long as I can, and to do the best I can to provide for them the best start in life that I possibly can.
