SIMrise Play

We are SIMrise Play, a team of six HSG students with the goal to help build a playground for a rural school in Cambodia.

Education is one of the most powerful tools to break the cycle of poverty, especially in Cambodia, where access to quality education remains a challenge for many rural communities. Following the devastating impact of the Khmer Rouge regime on education, during which educated people were persecuted and in severe cases executed, reframing education as a positive experience remains crucial. Until this day, most children still don't have access to education, a pressing issue, that Smiling Gecko is trying to change.

Our partner Smiling Gecko, a Swiss NGO, established a blueprint for a functional, self-sufficient rural community close to the capital Phnom Penh which they call the Smiling Gecko campus. Their community includes a school, open to all children living within the campus, aiming to provide them with a high-quality education and empower them with the skills and opportunities to secure a brighter future. A future that until this point is still out of reach for most children in Cambodia.

What we do

Together with our partner Smiling Gecko, we want to help build a playground for the school. The playground will be an environment in which the children can learn to interact playfully with others, build strength and coordination skills, and most importantly simply be children.

Who we are

We are a group of six students, attending the Master in Strategy and International Management at the University of St.Gallen. Together, we strive to make a positive impact and help improve access to and quality of education for children in Cambodia.

Where your donation goes

Your donations will go to the Smiling Gecko campus, supporting the construction of the local school's playground. As there are several parts to financing the playground, even small donations can go a long way.
