My name is Cheryl Ciccarelli. I live and own a business in Silver Gate, Montana. I am raising money for our community for repairs and loss of income caused by this historic flood.
As many of you know Yellowstone National Park and surrounding communities were
hit by a historical flood forever changing the landscape. All entrances to Yellowstone are currently closed with the southern part of the park to open in the near future. As for Gardiner to Mammoth Hot Springs it could be a while.. The same fate is for Tower-Roosevelt to the Northeast entrance. This is the section of the park that goes
through the breathtaking Lamar Valley which we are being told is unlikely to
open for the rest of the season. Silver Gate, Montana is a beautiful small town located 1 mile outside the Northeast entrance. This area is loved by many and will be loved by those who haven’t found it yet. Each and every year, we have accelerated in growth and popularity with more people discovering this hidden corner of the park. Most of the businesses have been devastated by this disaster and may not survive without the summer season that keeps us going year to year. This was going to be a exceptionally busy season, being the 150 anniversary of Yellowstone National Park. Maybe, you haven’t been to Silver Gate, but you may have heard of the businesses here.
The Grizzly Lodge, The Log Cabin Cafe, Stop The Car Trading Post, The Silver Gate General Store, The Range Rider, Wildlife Along The Rockies or Silver Gate BBQ. Not to mention the VRBO’s and guiding tours based from our small community.
There are also many residents who have lost parts of their cabins to this devastating flood and have a lot of repairs ahead. The bridges and roads that have washed out or are completely gone, will take time and resources to repair.
With no tourism coming through we are struggling. We lost power poles, septics are damaged and wells have been compromised. What was supposed to be a busy tourism season has come to a standstill. At this time we are under resident essential travel only for Silver Gate and Cook City to be able to get to Cody, as long as no further damage happens to already compromised bridges from the Beartooth Highway side.
We would appreciate your donations to help local family owned businesses as well as residents needing help with repairs.
