Sightsavers works to protect sight by preventing avoidable blindness, and this includes carrying out cataract operations with more than 9.76 million people already treated, in some of the world's poorest communities. It also fights five major neglected tropical diseases that affect more than a billion people and promotes disability inclusion so everyone has equal opportunities to learn, work and take part in society. The organisation carries out this work across several regions, including West Africa, East, Central and Southern Africa, and South Asia.
