Siân's Trek To Machu Picchu for DPJ
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Siân and I have decided to challenge myself by trekking to Machu Picchu as part of a team of 16 amazing people, all with the aim of raising as much money for The DPJ Foundation as possible, whilst also raising awareness about suicide and poor mental health in the process.
For those that don't know, back in 2016 a local Agricultural Contractor, Daniel Picton-Jones, took the decision to end his life. In the aftermath of his death, his widow Emma set up The DPJ Foundation - a charity supporting those with poor mental health in the Agricultural community. Since then, the charity has gone on to achieve incredible things. It has trained thousands of people in Mental Health Awareness; provided fully funded counselling to over 1000 people and reached millions of people through its extensive volunteer work over the whole of the UK. Just to name a few!
I'm proud to say that I have volunteered for the charity in some capacity since Emma created it and I've followed her with respect and admiration ever since. This, it would seem, is going to be no exception and I'm following her once more.
In 2026, DPJ turns 10 years old. True to form, Emma was not going to let this momentous milestone pass without doing something special...and this is it.
Personally for me, I sadly lost my wonderful Dad last year but I want to do this epic challenge as much for him as for me. Unlike me, he believed I could do anything if I set my mind to it! I hope I do him proud.
Physically, this will be a huge challenge but I'm embracing it, alongside the other 15 wonderful trekkers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Bring on Machu Picchu 2026!
